It's been a couple of weeks since I posted--I tried last week but Blogger kept crashing and I gave up. Here's a couple of pics from the Nowruz (Persian New Year) celebration last weekend. That's Steph playing the violin--she performed 3 pieces just beautifully!

Let's see, what else?! I've been working a lot, plus teaching the undergraduate laboratory. I'm doing some research now so that I can help them design their projects later this week. That part of the course could be disasterous to say the least but I'm hoping they can at least get to do some sort of analysis.

My professor kind of surprised me last week--just when I was getting frustrated, she suggested that I submit abstracts to present at 2 major conferences in the fall (ACS and AIChE) and also co-author a book chapter with her on sensor-based systems in metabolic engineering. So that got me motivated again. I definitely need to make a lot of progress over the next few months. I will also have an undergraduate student working under me this summer. He's a senior and taking the lab class I'm teaching so he should be thoroughly trained in experimental techniques by the end of the term although they're working with E. coli rather than yeast.

It seems like I should have a lot more to write about than that, but I am distracted by labwork as usual. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday afternoon (at least it is here in CA)!
