Ohio
Well, I am in Ohio this entire week for a metabolic engineering conference/workshop. It's much smaller than I thought--not sure how I (and 2 others from my lab) got invited? I think we were the only ones who presented posters b/c it's mostly professors. Oh well, it's a nice change of pace. There are only a few talks each day so I have plenty of time to get all my cardio/training in which is of course a priority right now. I brought all of my food for 5 days so no problems on that end either. I'm so efficient that these things are at least starting to not stress me out as much as they used to.
Unfortunately, the timing means I won't be able to make it to the Olympia this weekend. It's the first year in a long time I haven't gone, but there's just no way I can get back late Friday night and then drive to Vegas.
As usual, I've completely drawn a blank on whatever it was I thought I needed to blog about this afternoon. Maybe these talks are wearing me down--honestly, it is hard to pay attention, especially after flying in on the red-eye Sunday night.
Oh yeah, being on the Ohio State campus is reminding me of my days back at A&M, especially at the rec center. Everyone seems SO young and immature--it's like a whole other world. I'm so glad I didn't do my graduate work at a primarily undergraduate institution; I would go nuts! The weirdest thing about the gym here--people don't believe in "working in."
