Home Sweet Home
It's been a while since I posted but it honestly took me about a week to recover from my trip to Ohio--yikes, I will never do that again while prepping. I came back and was 160lbs and felt like complete crap. I had eaten all my own food and done all my normal training and cardio so I knew it was not bodyfat, but rather my body hating me for breaking out of my normal routine. I'm telling you, there really is a reason bodybuilders are so anal about these things--training times, meal times, etc. I got home late Friday night and it took me till about Wed/Thurs to get back down into the 150-155lb range again. So, that is managable for 6 weeks out but I just got my diet changes and it's going to be tough! Lots of fish which does nothing for me and very little carbs/fat=no energy. But I can get through anything; of that I am certain.
So anyway, the conference was ok but not really a worthwhile trip for me which was disappointing. It was all profs so not really any grad students to interact with and learn from. Not that I really had time to socialize since I had to do cardio before the meeting, train during lunch, then do cardio again afterwards. That's when most of the discussion took place--during the lunches and dinners but I can't really help that. I got the impression that most of the professors there were not particularly interested in my work--no one really commented to me about my poster (although again maybe b/c I was always disappearing). I also felt like the way my professor presented it, it was like constructing the pathway was secondary to developing tools to regulate it which I would have to totally disagree with. It is a significant work by itself and from my experience, any of these "switches" we have developed in the lab will only decrease production. I would be shocked if there was any benefit to using them whatsoever in ANY recombinant or endogenous metabolic pathway. And that is the truth. And no I'm not bitter--lol. OK, I'll stop there. I'm busy cooking this morning since everything got turned upside down. Oh well, my chicken and ground beef will have to stay in the freezer for a while.
